I spent over a month bringing this piece to life through detailed hand-engraving, carefully working across every surface to achieve a balanced and cohesive composition. The design draws inspiration from traditional Japanese elements, centered around the powerful imagery of nine waves, the rising sun, and Mount Fuji.
Each of the nine waves was individually engraved with flowing, rhythmic lines, symbolizing strength, persistence, and the ever-changing nature of life. I focused on creating depth and movement within the waves, allowing them to feel dynamic and alive as they surround the central subject. Above them, the sun radiates outward with clean, precise lines, representing energy, renewal, and clarity.
Mount Fuji stands calmly in the background, acting as a visual anchor within the composition. Its presence brings a sense of stability and quiet strength, contrasting with the motion of the waves below. This balance between movement and stillness was a key intention throughout the engraving process.
Using my signature benzjr style, I combined fine linework with controlled spacing to ensure every element connects seamlessly. The result is a harmonious piece that reflects both technical precision and symbolic storytelling through hand-engraving.
